Hi my name is Alan Crosbie,I rode speedway back in the 70s & 80s.
When it was quite a strong Family Entertainment,
back then we had World Champions.
Like Ronnie Moore,Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger.
Who sharpened there teeth on British League Racing.
Now I am going to bring LEAGUE RACING to the South Island.
Back in the seventies I was involved with a team, which we had at Templeton Speedway.
This was called Ronnies Rebels it was
Ronnies Team,it has not been around now for a long time.
So one of the teams I have created is RONNIES REBELS 2004.
As a Canterbury team,and was presented to him at his Anniversary Meeting at Moore Park.
This is my part of his Anniversary and hope they are still around in fifty years as well.
Canterbury have Football,Netball,Cricket,Hockey,
Teams etc why not a Speedway Team .
So you can pick up the paper on Monday morning and see who they won or lost to.
The sport has been on a low level over the past few years and is now in a position,with a good bit of promotion.
It would help the sport produce some more top riders in this country and bring it back as a very strong family Entertainment,but
in this day and age it needs a new concept and that is what I want to promote.
Years back an up an comming rider could go to England and get experience and further or make a career from it.
But that is not so possible today,because it is so big over there now.There is so many from all over the continent trying
to make it into speedway that there is no room left for riders in this part of the world.
So with this happening riders out here don't get any good riding experience,we also don't get the top riders from over
there like we used to to pull our fellows along and pass on knowledge.
Teams racing is where they get the skills and technique which makes for better and safer competition,that's how
it is all done overseas.
They started this sort of competition in Australia about ten years ago and now its booming producing some top world riders.Congratulations

South Island I have put three Teams together of the top south Island riders,they are ready to go.There is one in Invercargil,Oreti
Stormers, Christchurch,Ronnies Rebels,
Westcoast,Tasman Tigers.
My ambition is to build one in Dunedin,Greymouth and Nelson which will give us six teams for the south Island.
